Source Water Protection Plan

About Source Water Protection
The Left Hand Water District is committed to protecting the quality of our source waters. That is why we are working with the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment to develop a Source Water Protection Plan (SWPP). SWPP plans delineate the area to be protected, ID potential sources of contamination in the delineated area, implement measures to manage these sources and plan for the future.
The Left Hand Water District is under no requirement to develop a SWPP. In fact our drinking water meets or exceeds all state and federal standards, but we are committed to continuing to provide the best water possible far into the future. We are pleased the State of Colorado has a program in place to help us achieve our goal to preserve the quality of our source water.
The Source Water Protection Steering Committee is comprised of watershed stakeholders and has identified the primary issues of concern listed below.
